Re: Major color overhaul

Thanks, I was able to duplicate this. In fact both client and server crashed simultaneously for me. It's going to take some digging. For now, could try proquake or other dedicated server.

Re: Major color overhaul

I've played multiplayer, but not as a dedicated server in a long time. If you post the error I'll take a look. On the server there may be a s8report.txt file in id1 folder with a message as well.
The 'can't find track' on the client is just a music track.

Re: Major color overhaul

Next will be a 'beta' release. A few additional items may be considered-
Bring back r_colorsaturation cvar.
Custom hud element location adjustment through cvars. Cheesy but easy.
Ignore sv_cheats in singleplayer, if no repercussions.
Opaque particles cvar?

Re: Major color overhaul

Another pixel-doubler attempt. 1. Fix a possible crash if there are more than 40 video modes. 2. Attempt a windowed mode before giving up. 3. List all video modes in S8report.txt. This is found in either the main id1 folder, or the mod folder if playing a mod. Please attach if reporting a crash or b...

Re: Major color overhaul

I can confirm that 1920x1200 works just fine in the new test build. Great, thanks for reporting! Check this out: yet another build. Automatic pixel-doubling for compatible modes, noted with 'S' in video mode menu. Bigger pixels, faster FPS... win/win. EDIT- Links removed - see newer build in later ...

Re: Major color overhaul

Another test build: qbism super8 v267.zip EDIT- forgot to include dlls for music, if you don't have a previous version installed: qbism super8 v267 with dlls.zip Most overlapping transparencies render correctly now- cumulative and without clipping. Thanks to mankrip code- based on Makaqu 1.6 rendere...

Re: Quake II with 8-bit colored lighting ref_soft.dll

I enjoyed watching these. It's always good to see how an engine looks on someone else's machine.
The video quality is excellent. What did you use for capture, and file format?

I started work on interface scaling based on Yamagi Q2, and might get back to it after the next super8 update.

This build doesn't change the q2dos video code, whatever that max resolution is. 1920x1200... could be a Dell M6300 laptop?

Re: Quake II with 8-bit colored lighting ref_soft.dll

Glad you're enjoying it, and thanks for the tip on the mission packs!

I'm not 100% sure it is in the build I posted, but try typing 'sw_part' and then the TAB key in console. A list of particle overrides should appear. This is thanks to the q2dos team, and in fact I haven't tried these options.
